For us, eating is not just about nourishment. Eating is also good for the soul. Life is too short for mediocre food. We make sure that our dishes always make you happy. Crunchy, spicy, sweet, juicy - simply delicious. We fulfill almost every wish.


In 2022, what happened on the track many years ago was now also implemented in the old house at Dachau Stadt station, the local railway became the Essbahn and the history of Dachau city station is being rewritten.




Dachau and the surrounding area have had to wait a long time, but now the time has come. Burgers that fill you up, spare ribs that fall off the bone, crispy and perfectly seasoned tarte flambée. That's how we love food!

We have often been asked why such a small restaurant and why here.

We love historical buildings and we love stories that neighbors, guests, pedestrians and even officials tell us, the old local railway is just such a building. If this building could talk, I think everything would be bizarre, funny, sad and certainly a lot that we don't even want to know. Sometimes when we are alone in the restaurant, it seems to me that the Alte Lokalbahn is telling me something and I have the impression that they are quite happy with us as tenants.

The size is also perfect, because we know most of our guests by name and new ones are added every day. This is important to us because we are restaurateurs who want to have personal contact with our guests. For the most part, this rarely works in large economies. For us, a guest is a friend, acquaintance or maybe even a piece of family, but he is never a number.

I'm Tomi (40), you'll usually find me in the kitchen, that's where I feel comfortable, because I love food. For me, the greatest thing is when guests tell me "Hey Tomi, that was great again". I also think it's important when guests tell me what wasn't good, because that spurs me on to do even better next time. For me, the most important thing is that the guest goes home full and with a good feeling.

The railway manager

I'm Andrea (32) and the "fire brigade" in the Essbahn, I'm there where I'm needed in service, delivering or in the kitchen. I am happy about every guest who visits us and always try to offer the guest the best and to please everyone. No matter how stressful it is sometimes, I'm always happy when I walk through the dining room and see happy faces, then I know that it was worth the stress.
